Task 1


Genre analysis is a process of looking at several samples of a particular genre to analyse their similarities and differences in terms of their purposes, macrostructure and language choice.

Content analysis is a method where documents and content are studied, for example, Pictures and Audio files.

Narrative analysis is the method where one or more narrators get together and recount their story and how to appeal to their audience, they also discuss and compare different ideas for their narrative.


Reception study is when the viewer makes meaning of the media text that they are watching for example, whilst watching Charlie and the chocolate factory, the audience can tell the Charlie's family is poor boy the house they are living in and seeing that they are living on thin cabbage soup and most of them sleep in the same bed.

Fan study is when individuals are passionate about or have a connection to a film. fan study is the difference between a normal audience and dedicated fans.

Charlie and the chocolate is one of Tim burtons films along with, Edward scissorhands, Alice in wonderland, corpse wife, frankenweenie and many more. Tim burtons films usually consist of the genre fantasy and the characters are usually pale and skinny.





Task 2

structuralism is 
  1. a method of interpretation and analysis of aspects of human cognition, behaviour, culture, and experience, which focuses on relationships of contrast between elements in a conceptual system.
    • the doctrine that structure is more important than function.
 semiotics is the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation.               

auteur theory is    nterpretation when a director is viewed in a high regard for their motion pictures for example Quentin Tarantino with Pulp fiction.               

feminism is the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

queer theory is a field of critical theory that emerged in the early 1990s out of the fields of queer studies and women's studies. Queer theory includes both queer readings of texts and the theorisation of 'queerness' itself.               

Marxism is the political and economic theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, later developed by their followers to form the basis of communism.

psychoanalytic isthe theory of personality organisation and the dynamics of personality development that guides psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology.
